Orientation Week

Our vibrant campus welcomes over 1,000 international students from 80 countries, including the United States, Japan, Germany, France, and Indonesia, adding vitality and diversity to our university life.

To let the students quickly integrate into campus life, OIA has organized activities, including orientation sessions, campus tours, an Earthquake Simulation Vehicle, and welcome events from different colleges. These activities familiarize new students with our campus and allow them to make friends from other countries.

Prof. Hsiao-Wei Yuan, the Vice President for International Affairs, used the metaphor of “Catfish” to encourage the students. She urged them to dig deep and create sparks during their academic journey while nourishing the entire underwater ecosystem. Prof. Yuan’s words inspire all new students as they embark on their new chapter at NTU.

Prof. Jiun-Huei Wu, the founder of the International Companions for Learning, encouraged students to have cultural and language exchanges during their learning. In this way, students can help rural kids to learn different languages and cultures, which brings warmth to society. Meanwhile, they can get to know the Taiwanese culture more comprehensively.

We also invited the Taipei City Fire Department to provide an Earthquake Simulation Vehicle. The aim is to assist students from countries lacking prior exposure to earthquakes in comprehending earthquake disaster prevention and cultivating their disaster-prevention awareness.

Many exciting events and activities are coming, including the Host Family Program, Sports Day, and Lunar New Year Gathering. These activities will enable international students to fully immerse themselves in the vibrancy and diversity of NTU’s campus.

Let’s journey through this unforgettable time together, make new friends, acquire more knowledge, and create cherished memories on this beautiful campus.
