To welcome over 1,200 international students from more than 60 countries, NTUOIA has organized a series of orientation activities. Covering a wide range of topics such as intercultural exchange, campus life adaptation, and disaster prevention education, these events aim to help international students seamlessly integrate into the NTU community.
The orientation program is packed with exciting activities, These include orientation briefings, campus tours, earthquake simulation car, Chinese language placement tests, and college welcome events. These diverse activities not only allow students to meet new friends from all over the world in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere but also help expand their international network.
Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Hsiao-Wei Yuan welcomed students to NTU, highlighting that international students bring unique perspectives and experiences to the campus. Like a flourishing forest, where each tree stands tall but is stronger because of the roots that connect us all.
Professor Jiun-Huei Proty Wu, founder of International Companions for Learning, encouraged students to actively participate in the program. Through cultural and language exchanges, students can gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s local culture and contribute warmth to the community, fostering a strong connection with Taiwanese society.
To enhance international students’ awareness of disaster prevention, the Office of International Affairs invited the Taipei City Fire Department to bring an earthquake experience vehicle to campus. This allows students from non-seismic regions to experience the power of an earthquake firsthand and learn how to respond to disasters effectively.
Upcoming events on campus include NTU Sports Day, host family activities, and second mentor program. These activities are expected to create unforgettable memories for international students and enrich their study abroad experience in Taiwan.
