National Taiwan University hosted the “NTU World Carnival Festival” on April 27th, featuring 26 stands representing approximately 30 countries, including Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Thailand, Pakistan, Germany, Switzerland, and Spain. International students adorned themselves in traditional attire, showcasing the culinary delights and cultural richness of their respective countries.
Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Hsiao-Wei Yuan, opened the event by emphasizing the collaborative spirit among student associations from various countries. The showcase of diverse cultures and campus vibrancy was complemented by a delightful array of international cuisine, fostering connections among attendees. Vice President for Student Affairs, Prof. Shi-Wei Chu, encouraged students to engage in extracurricular activities as a means to forge friendships with peers from around the globe.
The “2024 Break and Fuse Fest” demonstrates the strong collaboration between National Taiwan University (NTU), National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST). Attended by Vice President for International Affairs, NTNU, Prof. Yi-De Liu, Associate Vice President for International Affairs, NTNU, Prof. Hsiu-Mei Hsieh, and Associate Vice President for International Affairs, NTNU, Prof. Yun-Hsin Chou, along with Vice Dean for International Affairs, NTUST, Prof. Shen-Long Tsai, the event facilitated cultural exchange and culinary delights.
Several foreign diplomats were also invited, including Oscar Adolfo Padilla Lam, the Ambassador of Guatemala to Taiwan, Daniela Ortiz Figueroa, the Minister Counselor of Guatemala to Taiwan, Vũ Phương Thảo, the Deputy Head of the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, and Gavin Salim, the Local Staff of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Thanks to the students’ meticulous preparation, guests had the opportunity to savor a variety of international cuisines, including pea flour from Myanmar, vegetable dosa from India, empanadas from Latin America, Tiramisu from Italy, and tortilla de patatas from Spain. The event was further enhanced by a martial arts performance presented by the Academy of Preparatory Programs for Overseas Chinese Students at NTNU.
