Chinese Literature and Freshman English are required courses for undergraduates. If you do not take the placement tests or apply for exemption, you will not be able to select these courses, and consequently, you will not be able to graduate. Please pay close attention to this requirement.
Therefore, all freshmen must participate in the online Mandarin and English proficiency tests. (Students who plan to take foreign language courses other than English to fulfill the “6 credits in the Common Required Foreign Language Field” are exempted from the English proficiency test.)
Freshman overseas Chinese students and international students must complete both the Mandarin and English proficiency tests to obtain their test results. Only those who meet the course selection requirements can use the course selection system to add “Chinese Literature” and “English” courses. The Office of Academic Affairs will assign students to the appropriate Chinese and English classes based on the test results.
Courses that do not match the test results selected in the course system for Chinese Literature or English will not be assigned.
