What to expect upon arrival in Taiwan, including orientation, registration, housing, ARC
All of incoming international students are required to complete the NTU General Health Exam in Taiwan. After completing the Online Health Survey, students can download the NTU General Health Exam Form and go to their designated hospital to do the Health Exam in Taiwan. Please note the health exam procedures are different for undergraduate and graduate students.
If you hold a Visitor Visa and would like to apply for ARC, you are required to complete the Health Certificate for Residence Application in Taiwan. For your convenience, you can go to the Taipei City Hospital, Heping branch to do one health exam and complete both the NTU Health Exam Form and the Health Certificate for ARC Application.

To be officially enrolled at NTU and get your student ID card/ Certificate of Enrollment, you need to complete the online registration procedure before the deadline.
The online registration procedure is different for Undergraduate (Bachelors) and Graduate students (Masters, PhD).

To have a good start at NTU, you can join the series of Welcome activities listed in the link below. Through these events, such as the Campus Tour, you can make friends with other international students and new coming local students, and become more familiar with our university.

The ARC serves as an ID card which proves legal resident status in Taiwan. International students should take good care of it and pay attention to its expiration date as it is a very important document.
International students who have entered Taiwan with a Resident Visa, or obtained Resident Visa through visa change in Taiwan, are required to apply for Alien Resident Certificate through the online application system within 30 days after arrival or issue date of Resident Visa within Taiwan respectively.

College Chinese and Freshmen English are required course for you to get your degree at NTU. If you meet the following requirements, you may apply to waive both of the courses:
You may take the Basic Subject Waivers Certification Exam (Freshman Chinese subject) held by NTU. For more information about the exam, please see: https://exam.aca.ntu.edu.tw/fcc/certificate.aspx\

If the result of your Test is “Qualified to register for the Basic Subject Waivers Certification Exam”, you can take the Basic Subject Waivers Certification Exam (Freshman English subject) held by NTU. General Chinese course is a required course for Students admitted to a fully-English taught undegraduate (bachelors) program. It is counted as the required College Chinese course for student who join the fully-English taught undegraduate (bachelors) program. If you would like to take a more advanced level of Chinese course, please email to Ms. Chang Yi Ying, yiyin747@ntu.edu.tw
IF you are a graduate (master or PhD) student, please register and join the Placement test only if you are interested to take general Chinese course. Taking General Chinese Course does affect your GPA.
