International Students and Host Families Building Connections Through Dragon Boat Festival Festivities
To help international students experience the Dragon Boat Festival, the Office of International Affairs held the 2024 Host Family Event—Dragon Boat Festival. 16 Taiwanese families, including NTU faculty members and MOE LMMF families, were invited to participate alongside students from India, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Peru, the Netherlands, Myanmar and Lithuania.
Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Hsiao-Wei Yuan warmly welcomed the participants, thanking the families for attending and expressing her hope that students could immerse themselves in Taiwanese culture through this opportunity.
Students and host families took part in a fun trivia quiz about the Dragon Boat Festival, fostering teamwork and camaraderie. International students also had the chance to directly experience a Dragon Boat Festival tradition as they learned how to make sachets, a customary decoration worn during the festival.
