In 2024 Winter Solstice, our International Student Host Family Program transformed into a Global Village Party! Nearly 90 participants—including international students from 18 countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan, India, Korea, the USA, and France, as well as Mandarin learners from the
NTU CLD 臺灣大學語文中心中國語文組, NTU faculty and staff, Huaien Church members, and partners from the Ministry of Education’s
LMMF境外學生接待家庭計畫 LMMF Host Family Program—gathered for a heartwarming and lively year-end celebration!
The event kicked off with an engaging “Frontline Support” activity, instantly bonding students and host families. The “Creative Lantern Painting” and “Festive Quiz Challenge” had international students exclaiming, “Taiwanese culture is so much fun!” Of course, no Winter Solstice gathering would be complete without the star of the show—steaming hot tangyuan (sweet rice dumplings)! Their delightful taste of togetherness made for the perfect ending to this festive celebration.
A special thank-you goes to our dedicated host families, especially NTU staff members Mr. Steven Hsu and Ms. Ju-Chen Lin, who have participated over four times. And Ms. Teng Tzu Chen shared her homemade pastries! Their warmth and companionship have given international students a “home away from home”, making their time in Taiwan all the more meaningful!
Thanks to every participant, this Winter Solstice wasn’t just a holiday! This Winter Solstice was more than just a holiday—it was a cultural feast and a heartfelt cross-border exchange. Looking ahead to 2025, we sincerely invite more host families and international students to join us in creating even more cherished NTU and Taiwan memories!
