From Taoyuan International Airport to Central Taipei

If you would like to go to the College of Medicine or Academia Sinica, the school shuttle bus is at your service. You can get a free ride simply by showing your student ID to the bus driver. Please go to the website of the Office of General Affairs to download the latest version of the NTU Campus Shuttle Bus Schedule.
YouBike
Ubike or Youbike is an efficient bike rental program offered by the Taipei City Department of Transportation and Giant Bikes.
Generally, you will be able to find a Youbike station at every MRT station and next to every department on campus. To rent a Youbike you will need a registered (online or at the kiosk) EasyCard (your student card works as one) and a local mobile number.
There are two Ubike systems: 1.0 and 2.0. Both can be found on the NTU campus. The Ubike 2.0 system additionally allows you to rent by using a smartphone. To find the closest Ubike station you can search Ubike 1.0 or 2.0 in Google maps. Or use the Ubike Apps that can be downloaded on Android and iOS (only in Chinese).

At NTU, almost everyone has a bike to quickly travel between classrooms within our large campus, and is one of the most convenient ways to commute among students.
Where and how to get a bike?
There are used bike auctions from time to time at the Shui Yuan bicycle towing area for NTU students, staff, and faculty members. The price will not be more than NTD 1,200 for each and the price depends on the condition. For more information please refer to the “used bike auction section” of the Bicycle Parking Management System.
Bicycle Parking Permit
Every bicycle parked on the campus needs a parking permit. A bicycle without a parking permit can be towed away. After 2 months, the unclaimed bicycles will be disposed.

Bicycle towing and claiming
Your bike will be towed away if you do not park it properly. If your bike was towed go to the “Bicycle Parking Management System” to search for your bike, and go to the Shui Yuan bicycle towing area to claim your bike.

MRT
The Taipei MRT ( Mass Rapid Transit) is a modern transportation system connecting different regions of the city and its vicinities. Currently, there are ten metro lines in the MRT system.
NTU is located close to the Gongguan MRT station on the Songshan-Xindian (Green) line and the Technology Building MRT station on the Wenhu (Brown) Line. Students can take the MRT to travel to other parts of the city. To pay for your travel fare you can use your NTU Student ID Card that functions as an EasyCard. You can add value directly to your NTU Student ID Card at all MRT stations and convenience stores.
Downtown Buses
Taipei public transportation also includes frequent and punctual public buses. You can pay for the bus fares also by using your student ID that works as an Easycard.

Long Distance Transportation
In Taiwan, there are three main ways to travel for a long distance on the road:highway bus, train and high speed railway. For more information please refer to the following websites:
Gongguan is a shopping area with many stores that are popular with NTU students. There is also a night market that is frequented by many students. Gongguan is also the location of the Museum of Drinking Water, which used to be Taipei’s tap water facilities.
As Taiwan’s capital city, Taipei serves as one of the most important economic and cultural centers in Taiwan. Taipei offers a mixture of both traditional and modern elements. According to statistics, Taiwan’s religions mainly include folk religions, Buddhism, and Taoism. There are also many places of worship and gatherings for Christians, Catholics and Muslims near National Taiwan University.
NTU provides 2 prayer rooms for application. If you would like to register for the prayer rooms, please fill out the form. You can swipe your student ID card to enter the rooms once the access has been approved and get a notification by email.
NTU Office of International Affairs (OIA) is in charge of university-level exchange/visiting student programs, while individual college/departments run their own college/department-level exchange student programs. You are obligated to abide by NTU regulations regardless of which program you participate in.
You can use your NTU student identification number to check your exchange/visiting status. The status distinction is important because different regulations and
administrative process may apply.
The third-to-last digit of your NTU student ID indicates your status: 1 for university-level exchange students and 3 for visiting students.
Information provided by NTUOIA applies to both university-level exchange students and visiting students. Visiting students are generally entitled to the same rights and held to the same responsibilities as exchange students.

College/department-level exchange students should directly consult the respective college/department offices for questions concerning admissions, registration, as well as other academic and living supports. Please contact your college/department exchange coordinator for further assistance.
The Computer and Information Networking Center provides 24-hour computer rooms that can be accessed using your student ID card. Furthermore, all libraries are equipped with computers for you to browse the online library catalog. Printing, copying and scanning machines can be found in all libraries, and there are several printing shops located on campus that provide discounts for NTU students.
NTU students can use their student accounts to access their email account and cloud storage space. All important announcements and academic information will be sent to your NTU account. Your NTU student account is also used for course registration and other administrative procedures.
In addition, you can use your NTU account to download software for personal use.
NTU students can access the NTU Campus Wireless Network. Please use the same login and password you use for your NTU account (myNTU or NTU email).
Students who are not on campus can access the NTU network through a Virtual Private Network (VPN). It is useful especially if they want to use NTU’s digital resources while not being on campus. To check how to activate the VPN please visit the page here.
Additionally, NTU students can use their student account to log into the eduroam network. Eduroam is a Wi-Fi roaming service that allows to access wireless internet at educational institutes globally.
An increasing number of NTU’s high-quality courses and lectures are accessible online for both NTU students and non-students. NTU’s academic content can be found on the following platforms:
NTU Speech:
NTU Speech is an archive and live-streaming platform for speeches held at NTU. It currently holds more than 2,500 speeches, including speeches by Nobel laureates.
NTU OpenCourseWare (NTU OCW):
As a university that considers open access to education important, NTU is a member of the Open Education Consortium. NTU OpenCourseWare is NTU’s homegrown platform for online courses and lectures with over 200 courses available online.
NTU MOOC x Coursera:
NTU is the only university in Taiwan to be invited to join the online learning platform Coursera. Over 50 courses are currently offered, and over 24,000 students have completed courses with over 4,000 students having purchased certificates of completion.
Distance learning allows students to attend synchronous classes with students from prestigious universities from around the world. The Computer and Information Networking Center has a special-purpose classroom equipped with large screen, projectors, TV sets, camcorders and control booth.
