After the semester begins, you may attend as many classes as you wish during the first two weeks while adding/dropping courses.
For precise information about the add/drop period, please refer to Academics > Courses.
Students are allowed to withdraw from one course after the add/drop period ends. For course withdrawal procedure, please see Academics > Courses > Course Selection > Course Withdrawal.
After successful withdrawal, a mark of “W” will be shown on your official academic report (transcript) for that course. If you stop attending a course without following the course withdrawal procedure, you will fail the course.
Students must make an appointment via our booking page (1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday) before visiting the Office of International Affairs.
If you lose your student ID card, you can apply for a replacement.
Step 1
Log into myNTU. Click on “Students” >> “Replacement Card” and fill in the relevant information.
Step 2
There is a replacement fee of NT$150 for the lost student ID card. You can pay at the Cashier Division or pay using the self-service machines in front of the Office of Academic Affairs.
Step 3
Take the payment receipt and your identity documents (such as your passport) to the Office of Academic Affairs* to collect your card.

Exchange students’ maximum study period at NTU is one academic year. If you were originally admitted for one semester of study, you may apply for an extension upon gaining approval from both your home university and NTU. If you were originally admitted for one academic year, but you wish to shorten your exchange due to personal reasons, you may apply to shorten your study period.
Mid-October (for the first semester) or late March (for the second semester).
For students who are living in a dormitory room, it is not guaranteed that you can continue to stay in the dormitory room after extending your exchange period.
Approval from both your home university and NTU is required. If the exchange program has reached the maximum number of students, for example, your application for an extension might not be approved. Therefore, please consult with both the coordinator from your home university and your NTU exchange coordinator for further information.

Make an appointment with your program manager for detailed information on the application process. They will provide you with the necessary guidance and assistance in applying for an extension or shortening of your visiting period.
During your study at NTU, you might need a certificate of enrollment to extend your visa, to apply for an ARC, or to buy a train ticket with a student discount.
You can print the document on your own by logging into the Exchange Student Program System or Visiting Student Program System, then navigating to Before Arrival > Registration. However, for students who began their study at NTU before the start of the Spring 2021 semester, please contact the coordinator in charge of your program.
Be mindful of your visa expiration while in Taiwan! Take note of the expiration dates and look into visa extension process early.
If you have a Visitor Visa, you will need to extend your visa at least once during study at NTU, as the maximum duration of stay the Visitor Visa permits is 90 days or less. Contact the National Immigration Agency for how to extend your visa.
It is important to follow the immigration regulations and apply for the necessary visa extensions to ensure that your stay in Taiwan remains lawful.

If you will study at NTU for over 6 months, please remember to apply for the Alien Resident Certificate (ARC). In addition, if you change your residence, you have to register the new address with related documents at a local immigration service station within 15 days.
