Visit one of the banks on campus or off campus in-person. We recommend calling ahead to see if you need to make a reservation and confirm what documents you need to bring.
Generally, you will need to bring your passport, your UI No. Basic Information Form or ARC, and usually NTD 1,000 for deposit. You will need to fill out some forms at the bank and don’t be afraid to ask the bank teller for help filling out all the necessary forms.
We strongly recommend that you apply for a bank card, so that you can withdraw money conveniently from ATMs. ATMs can often be found on the streets and in most convenience stores.
If you are under 18, you are considered a minor in Taiwan and you will need a letter of consent from your guardian in Taiwan or an embassy approved overseas legal guardian. It is often easier to obtain parental or legal consent before you arrive. You can download a Sample Statement Form for reference here.
