The Visiting Research Program is a non-degree program designed for international students who are currently enrolled in academic institutions outside of Taiwan but wish to engage in short-term research or internships with NTU faculty members. This program offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience and collaborate with experts in your field. Visiting research students are not permitted to enroll in regular NTU courses. The maximum program duration is 180 days, allowing participants to make the most of their time at NTU.
Qualification
1. Currently enrolled in a degree program at a higher education institution* outside of Taiwan
Either undergraduate or graduate level programs and must remain a student during program participation
The institution must be included in the reference list issued by the Ministry of Education, R.O.C.
2. Non-Taiwan Citizenship For Mainland Chinese, Hong Kong, or Macau passport holders, please refer to the Chinese version of the website for specific application instructions. (持有中國大陸、香港或澳門地區護照者,請參照訪問研究計畫中文版網頁)
3.Confirmation from a NTU faculty to act as your program supervisor (a signed Letter of Consent) Scroll to the bottom for suggestions on finding a NTU host.
4 Participation in internship and/or research activities at NTU:
If you’re an undergraduate student, you should be participating in an internship that fulfills your graduation requirement.
If you’re a graduate student, you should:
Participate in an internship that fulfills your graduation requirement, or Conduct research that contributes to your thesis.
Program Duration
Can range from a minimum of 14 days to a maximum of 180 days.
Your program duration may be limited and adjusted due to how long your visa in Taiwan is valid for.

1 Non-refundable Application Fee
Application Fee is non-refundable, for all circumstances, including incomplete applications, cancellations, etc. Once we receive a payment, even if there is duplicate payment or overpayment, we will not refund. incorrect payments, duplicate payments, and similar situations.
2 Cost of Living
The aforementioned fees do not include the cost of living.

3 Financial Support
NTU does not offer scholarship or financial support to program participants. We recommend seeking information from your home university and home country. Also check out the scholarship offers from the Taiwan Government Scholarship
It is essential to secure an NTU faculty member who is willing to serve as your supervisor during the program. Communicating with your host professor early will help clarify expectations and ensure a productive and meaningful experience during your visit at NTU. Here are some steps to take to find a host professor.
1 Browse the Faculty List
Refer to the List of Colleges & Departments to explore the diverse academic offerings available at NTU. Browse through the faculty list in the department or graduate institute that aligns with your research interests.
Visit the websites of individual faculty members to gain insight into their research interests and experiences.
This will allow you to assess if their expertise aligns with your research goals and interests.
3 Contact Potential Supervisors
Reach out to a few potential supervisors directly to express your interest in working with them and inquire about their availability and willingness to supervise your internship/research.
